HS2 Phase 2b Public Information Event at Mexborough Business Centre 19th June 2018

Article by Mexborough Business Centre

On Tuesday 19th July, Mexborough Business Centre hosted the well publicized community engagement event.

The focus of the information (which is subject to change) centered around the benefits and concerns people have about the proposed high speed railway plans and an opportunity to have their say, with several HS2 representatives on hand to talk to people individually, if necessary.

Topics covered engineering plans, environmental mitigation and the impacts on land and property, especially with several references to sizable storage units which residents feel would cause too much of an obstructive disruption along areas of Mexborough that are already congested at peak times and unlikely to be able to cope with the added strain.

The event dominated the main venue hall and spread across 6 rooms for separate smaller, private meetings.

We were really pleased with how smoothly the event went, with over 250 local attendees over the course of the day.
