Mexborough Business Centre hosts Public Sector Procurement Workshop

Article by Mexborough Business Centre

On Wednesday the 18th of October 2017, Mexborough Business Centre hosted a selling to the public-sector workshop, ran and organised by Business Doncaster. It was well attended by several local SME’s, offering an inside consideration how to win public sector contracts in the region.

Jenny Lawson from Enterprise Europe talked about the various EU rules when applying within Europe and how the value of the tender affects which ruling it falls under. She touched upon post Brexit and the possible changes and implications that could come into effect, dependant on whether we have a ‘soft’ or ‘hard’ Brexit followed by a useful introduction to online various portals for EU, UK and regional tenders and contracts.

Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council (DMBC) Procurement team gave a good insight into how their procurement works, what they look for, how they put contracts out to tender and the profile of a successful bid. It was a fabulous information gathering opportunity for all present and received very positive feedback. We hope we can host another soon.

Huge thanks to Business Doncaster and DMBC Procurement teams.
