The Advantages of Working in a Shared Office

Article by Mexborough Business Centre

If you have started a new business or are maybe working from home and possibly considering an office rental, have you thought about a shared office space?

We recently wrote an article on why a Virtual Office can be beneficial for a start-up or a relatively new but growing business, well the next step is a shared office.

What is a Shared Office?

A shared office is exactly that….sharing space and facilities, with another small business, but with the benefit of calling somewhere home for your company, without the cost or commitment of a sole rental.

The amount of companies you share with can vary on the size of the office space and what your requirements are. In our business centre, clients have their own desk and phone with sound partitions for privacy.

As a startup/new business, sharing an office in this way can have its advantages:

Sharing an Office means Sharing Costs

One of the main reasons for sharing an office is cost and keeping overheads low, which is paramount to a business in it’s infancy.

Sharing an office means you are no longer the sole rentee for the office and it’s running costs.

Great Networking Opportunities

If you are sharing an office space, then obviously you are sharing with other businesses.

Quite often, this can serve as an opportunity in itself. Even if these other businesses trade in a service that you supply, you can still potentially use each other as networking opportunities and maybe work together on various projects etc. This has certainly happened within our centre in the past and has created fruitful business relationships that still exist today

If you are sharing with businesses that offer a different service to you then you can potentially use them and their contacts for future work.
